About Us
In August of 2000, the Northeast Nebraska AIDS Prevention Partnership (NENAPP), located in Norfolk, Nebraska, felt that there was not enough being done in the northeast region for HIV/AIDS prevention. A grant was written and a program developed to provide HIV/AIDS prevention education to high-risk adolescents. The program was called RAPP and was overseen by a fiscal agent (Nebraska AIDS Project). In August of 2002, NENAPP determined that RAPP had proven itself as a program and felt that it would better serve society as an agency providing even more prevention services to greater populations in rural areas of Nebraska and surrounding states.
On September 11, 2002, Rural AIDS Prevention Project was incorporated as a non-profit corporation. A board of directors was assembled from members of the community. IRS Recognition of Exemption, 501(c)(3) status, was obtained in November of 2002. In December of 2002 RAPP was awarded its' first grant from the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services.
